1. About these terms
These terms apply to your use of the Glowbug app and glowbug.eu. Glowbug is provided by Jan Lennartz. By using the app, you agree to these terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.
2. What Glowbug does
Glowbug is an independent iPhone and iPad client for connecting to a Firefly III personal finance server selected and controlled by you. Firefly III is a separate open-source project and is not included with Glowbug.
3. Availability and price
Glowbug is currently offered free of charge. We may add an optional in-app tip purchase in the future. A tip is voluntary and does not purchase financial services or access to your money.
Test versions may be incomplete, change without notice, or stop working when a test build expires. We may update, replace, suspend, or discontinue parts of the app, subject to mandatory consumer law.
4. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for operating and securing your Firefly III instance, maintaining backups, protecting your device and credentials, and reviewing transactions before and after synchronization.
- Use only servers and data you are authorized to access.
- Keep your Firefly III instance, TLS configuration, and device software updated.
- Verify important financial records on your server before relying on them.
- Do not use Glowbug for unlawful activity or to interfere with the app or website.
5. Your data and third-party services
Glowbug sends requests to the Firefly III instance you configure. We do not control that server, its availability, its data, or its privacy practices. Apple, Firefly III, your email provider, and your hosting provider may apply their own terms and privacy policies.
6. Intellectual property
Glowbug, its website, name, branding, and original content are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. No open-source license is granted unless a separate license is published with specific source code in the future.
Firefly III and related marks belong to their respective owners. References to Firefly III describe compatibility and do not imply affiliation or endorsement.
7. Reliability and warranty
We work to make Glowbug reliable, but software and network connections can fail. The app is provided on an as-available basis. We do not promise uninterrupted access, compatibility with every Firefly III version or server configuration, or error-free synchronization.
Nothing in these terms excludes warranties, remedies, or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.
8. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss caused by unavailable servers, lost credentials, incorrect server configuration, missing backups, or decisions made from financial information shown by the app.
Mandatory liability, including liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body, or health, and mandatory product liability, remains unaffected.
9. Changes and contact
We may update these terms when Glowbug or legal requirements change. The latest version is published on this page with its revision date.
