Before you start
- 1An iPhone or iPad running iOS 26 / iPadOS 26 or later
- 2A running Firefly III instance you can reach from your device
- 3An HTTPS address for that instance
- 4A personal access token with permission to access your data
Common questions
Does Glowbug host my financial data?
No. Glowbug talks directly to the Firefly III server you configure. Cached data stays on your device.
Why does Glowbug require HTTPS?
Financial data and access tokens should never travel over an unencrypted connection. Glowbug only accepts secure instance URLs.
What happens when my server is offline?
Previously loaded core data remains available from the on-device cache. New transactions wait in a durable queue and retry when connectivity returns.
Where is my access token stored?
Glowbug stores each instance token in the iOS Keychain with device-only protection.
Can I connect more than one instance?
Yes. You can add multiple Firefly III instances and switch between them in Settings.
Is Glowbug part of Firefly III?
No. Glowbug is an independent client and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Firefly III project.
Still need a hand?
Include your iOS version, Glowbug version, and Firefly III version. Never send access tokens, passwords, or financial records.
